I am pleased and proud to share the AD21 Dems United for Working Families slate of ADEM delegate candidates with a group of progressive, and relatively young, San Mateo County leaders who are passionately committed to standing up for working families and progressive values.

The eldest candidate on the slate, I bring to the table my 20-year history of activism in the California Democratic Party (CDP), offering continuity and context to the efforts of these bold young leaders.

As Chair Emerita of San Mateo County Democracy for America (SMCDFA)—an issue-oriented grassroots organization that fights for the environment, social justice and equity, Medicare for All and other progressive values—and as a member of the San Mateo County Democratic Central Committee—where I have held the offices of Northern Vice Chair, Corresponding Secretary, Recording Secretary, and where I currently serve as Chair of the Program & Education Committee—I have been championing progressive causes in our community and in the California Democratic Party for two decades. In 2016, I was recognized as the CDP’s Volunteer of the Year in Region 6 for my efforts to help convince the CDP to endorse, against strong opposition, California’s End of Life Option Act.

My “boots on the ground” grassroots efforts have included organizing, voter registration, phone banking, tabling, letter writing, precinct walking, and GOTV. I have initiated and led policy meetings with elected officials, booked outside expert speakers for meetings, and authored or contributed to many resolutions on progressive issues, including immigration, Healthcare for All, local solar power, a Taser moratorium, Black Lives Matter, ending childhood poverty, law enforcement reform, and Mideast peace. My resolutions, which often originate in SMCDFA, go on for consideration and endorsement by the SMC Central Committee, and finally to the CDP for adoption.

In earlier years I was an actress, and I remain a proud union member of SAG-AFTRA. Later I worked in the corporate world, retiring from Oracle where I was the Western Region Director for Oracle Resource Services. In addition to my political activities, I paint, mostly portraits, and I edit the books of a very prolific author—nineteen novels in twelve years.

I will be forever grateful for your vote for me and for the rest of our AD21 Dems United for Working Families slate to boldly advocate for progressive issues as delegates to the CDP. These next four years are going to be critical!
